The start of the ride is marked with a big green "S" for start on a tree at the end of Loder Street (on the map Loder Street continues to Ridge Road, it actually stops where it crosses Henderson Street). The track moves in an anti-clockwise direction and is well marked with green arrows and dots. It finishes where it starts and is well over 4 km long. <br> <br> <br> This track is suitable for all levels of mountain bike riders, from a beginner to an advanced rider. <br> <br> <br> Visit the Greengrocer Cafe and Cycle Shop on Clifford Street for further details. Here you can get anything from a spare tube to fruit salad and yoghurt and a great coffee. <br> Ride up Clifford Street for 1km until you reach Deccan Street where you turn left. <br> Go another 1km and turn left into Addison Street. <br> A slight climb takes you to the town limit and top of the hill at 3.45km. After this is a good decent down to the Wollondilly River at 6.25km. <br> Continue along through the undulations. At 12.70km is a sharp left hand turn and you cross over the river. Just after the bridge on your right is the famous property 'Kippilaw'. One of the early Australian pioneering families the Durack's settled here. A book has been written about the family called 'Kings In Green Castles' by Patsy Durack. <br> Stay on the Gurrundah Road. You will start to climb up into the Great Dividing Range at around 19km. At 28km, continue along Gurrundah Road, ignore turn to the left. At 34km, continue along Gurrundah Road, ignore turn to the right. At 38.5km, cross over Hume's Bridge and climb steeply. A low gearing is required. At 42km, turn right to Crookwell on the Gunning Crookwell Road. Caution here with a gravel road surface for 1.5km. Preparation for sealing the road were underway at time of writing. Either way, a road can handle the smooth dirt surface. At 53.20km, you reach the Grabben Gullen Hotel and General Store where drinks and snacks are available after 10am. Continue ahead. When you pass the Crookwell Rubbish Tip, you are at the highest point. After this is a fast decent into Crookwell. At 65.80km, turn right into Carrington Street(main street). At 67km, you are in the main part of town with coffee shops and supermarkets. If you wish to go back to Goulburn via the Crookwell Road, continue straight ahead for 44km. This is the gathering point for cyclist in town and has an extensive range of cycling supplies and great food and coffee. <br> This ride is good for those carrying panniers who would like to camp overnight at the Gorge. <br> Turn left out of the cafe down Clifford Street until you reach a T intersection at the Police Station. Turn right into Sloane Street. The Information Centre is 200 metres along on your left hand side. <br> 1.15km from the Greengrocer, turn left into Blackshaw Road and go under the railway. After 1.5km veer right into Park Road and continue past the playing ovals. <br> At 2km, you reach a roundabout, turn right here into Forbes Road. <br> At 2.95km, veer left onto Bungonia Road, take care with cars coming from your right off the bridge. <br> At 4.35km you cross over the Hume Highway. Continue straight ahead and at 5 km turn left into Mountain Ash Road. There is a sign indicating Bungonia Gorge. <br> Stay on this road all the way to the township of Bungonia. <br> You are mostly climbing through farmland to the 14km mark. This is quite a steep climb. After this it is mostly downhill with undulations through farmland and scattered bushland. <br> At 27.5km you cross a creek and enter the small town of Bungonia. Veer around to the right and turn left into Lookout Road at 27.90km. There is a sign indicating Bungonia Gorge. <br> At this current point, there is no shop or opportunity to get supplies. <br> Continue through undulating countryside and pretty farmland until you reach the gate into the Bungonia State Conservation Area, at 36km. <br> Ride along another 200m and on your left is the Rangers Office and a small shop with supplies. You may need to check the opening hours before departing Goulburn. Here you can organise to camp in the Park. A great spot with very tame Kangaroos and an opportunity to have a camp fire depending on the season. <br> Continue onto the 38km mark and you reach a spectacular lookout and the start of some great walks. <br> Return to Goulburn the same way, or if heading back to Sydney, turn left just after the Bungonia township (after you cross over the bridge). This road will take you back to the Hume Highway near Marulan, 25km north east of Goulburn. There is a cemetary on the right hand side, travel to the end of it and enter the track directly after the end of the cemetary grounds. The track travels steeply to the top of the hill with some tight switch-backs on the way up, especially at the top. Once you travel over the highest point, and the track levels out, the official track starts with a big green "S" for start on a tree. The track travels in an anti-clockwise direction consisting mostly of free-flowing single track with some fire trail. Follow the green dots and arrows. The track is suitable for all levels of abilities with a few tight corners and sharp climbs. All in all, a very enjoyable ride though scattered native timber. Ride up to the roundabout and turn left into Bourke Street. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> Keep riding straight out on this road which turns into Victoria Road and then McDermott Drive. You are riding through suburban streets with a good shoulder. You will cross the Wollondilly River at 1.9km and the NSW Police Academy before turning left into Middle Arm Road at 3.20km. Stay on this road all the way to end of the bitumen. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> At 8.5km you will cross an old railway line at Norwood road which is the proposed route for the Goulburn to Crookwell Railtrail. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> From here you keep winding through relatively flat terrain until you climb up to the Fireshed at the junction of Rhyanna Road at 15.90km. A good place to take a break and enjoy the views back to Goulburn. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> Keep riding through undulating countryside with a couple of steep pinches up until you reach the highest point of the route at Peddlars Hill at 20.70km. <br> <br> <br> From here you have a steep decent for 2.5km into a beautiful valley. Cross over a small bridge and ride on past an old community shed and tennis court at 25km. <br> <br> <br> 1km beyond the tennis court, you reach the junction at Back Arm Road which is the end of the bitumen. If you keep going straight ahead on the dirt you will reach Roslyn and then Crookwell. The road is fine for a good touring bike or mountain bike. If you turn left onto Back Arm Road, this takes you to the Goulburn to Taralga Road. <br> If you turn around and return to the Goulburn, it is a good 52km ride. There is plenty of parking in Ellesmere Street. Head straight up Clifford Street for 1km until you reach Deccan Street and turn right. At 1.25km pass straight through the roundabout into Fitzroy Street. Keep riding straight ahead through town. You will cross the Wollondilly River at 2.5km and this road turns into Crookwell Road and will take you all the way to Crookwell. Be careful in the first 20km as the shoulder can sometimes be small a you can experience a some traffic. The ride to Crookwell is mostly climbing. At 24.60km, cross the wall at Pejar Dam. A good place to stop for a picnic. At 33.4km, there is a viewing area for the Windmill Farm. Here is the highest point of the ride with some great views. Here you can get yourself bike supplies and a coffee fix at the same time. <br> Turn left down Clifford Street until you reach a T intersection at 350 metres down the road. Turn right onto Sloane street. <br> Another 200 metres along is the Goulburn Visitors Centre. Continue straight ahead. <br> At 3.15km you pass under the Hume Highway. At 3.45km is a sharp turn to the left and you go under the railway bridge. Continue to the T intersection at 3.7km and turn right onto the Braidwood road. <br> At 4.5km turn left onto Brisbane Grove road. <br> At 7.4km turn left onto Windellama Road. <br> At 8.75km cross over the Hume Highway. <br> At 10.2km, veer right onto Forbes road just before the bridge. If you decide to cross the bridge, do so with extreme caution as it is very rutted. <br> At 11.05km you reach a roundabout, turn right onto Park road and climb a steep section. About 1/3 of the way up, turn left onto May street at 11.60km. <br> Continue along past the golf course, cross the creek. <br> At 12.95km turn left onto Phillip street and directly turn right over the railway bridge. The straight away turn left onto left into Mulwaree street. <br> At 13.55km veer right onto Bradley street and then left onto Sloane street at 13.70km. <br> At the next roundabout turn right onto Goldsmith street. Cross over the main street and take the next left onto Ellesmere street (carpark area) at 14.3km. Continue to the Greengrocer. <br> A good basic ride through semi rural and residencial streets.
