location: Pullman, Washington distance: 67.33 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Back Country, Big Climb, Long Climb, Long Distance, Rolling To Flat, Rural created by: description: Old Spiral Highway can be extremely dangerous when going too fast, especially after riding 26 miles to get there. But it can also be one of the most rewarding rides you'll ever attempt. Please be sure to check your brakes before descending. A lso, bring a few dollars and get some water and/or gatorade at the gas station before turning around for your ascent. Bring a cell phone in case you break down... because you probably won't see many cars on this road. The return trip to Pullman is a good cool-down, and make sure you have plenty of water to get there comfortably. View | Print | Bookmark | Write a Story | Tell-A-Friend | Send a Message |

location: Pullman, Washington distance: 111.16 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Big Climbs, Long Distance, Low Traffic Area, Quiet, Rural, Very Hilly created by: description: Hard route - my cyclometer usually comes back with 120+ miles (not the 110 from mapmyride). Take lots of food and water - the only water stops are at Boyer Park, the visitor center just after crossing the dam, in Clarkston, and in Uniontown. Also, be warned: it's very easy to get lost between the Dunes and Highway 12. Make sure to stop at the fish ladder at the visitor center just after the dam. Also, you may want to contact the Army Corps of Engineers to find out if there are any restrictions in taking your bike across Lower Granite Dam. location: Pullman, Washington distance: 21.34 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride created by: description: I'd give this 4 if not for Pullman-Albion road. It's 7 miles of chip seal, all uphill, and all into the wind when I rode it. Consider riding in the other direction, and rerouting in Pullman so that you still climb Terre View and not Stadium. Other than that, it's a good route for anyone who likes a bit of climbing. View | Print | Bookmark | Write a Story | Tell-A-Friend | Send a Message |
