description: Gorgeous coastal ride. Seems more difficult going north than south.

Unless my calculations are wrong, Torrey Pines doesn't look so bad on paper:

Northbound grade: 3.36%
11,458 feet horizontal
358 feet vertical

Southbound grade: 4.64%
8,818 feet horizontal
409 feet vertical

description: Great climb. You can use it for training or go all the way! NOT for a summer morning unless you start really early. Do not start the climb without water or low on water. It's 7 miles and no chance to refill unless you make it to the top. I only map the first leg. The way back is the same roads.

description: Nice jog that start off downhill so you are forced to slow it down. Levels off and reality sets and your legs go to work. Pound the ground for another 1/4 mile until you reach the trails and hit some small rollers that will give your lungs something to talk about. I like this part of the jog on the trail eucalyptus trees and the beautiful goldend hills of my city. After the rollers its downhill again until the trail comes to a junction where you can choose life or death. If you choose life then you are taken to the right down a short path that hooks back onto the blacktop and up the last and final hill of the run. Charge it and then its another short 1/4 mile downhill back to where you started.
