Benges Revenge 2009
Benges Revenge is a challenging bike ride sponsered by the Norton Kiwanis Club that winds through the hill country of southwestern Virginia (http://www.bengesrevenge.com/). The ride features a fast and delightful 30-mile descent right from the start, a long cruise on country roads through the hills and valleys of SW VA, and 2 steep climbs to the finish at Flag Rock. The climb up Powell Mountain (Gain = 720 ft; Length = 2.26 mi; Grade = 6.0%) brings you back to Norton. The climb up High Knob Mountain (1000 ft; 1.85 mi; 10.2%) is especially demanding with grades pitching up to 20% in some places! You can race this event or just ride it for fun.
