Description of this Walk

London Green Belt Way - Stage 8. 10.65 miles. Starts from the disussed Cole Green Railway Station at Letty Green and finishes at Dobbs Weir on the River Lee Navigation. The course is scenic, flat with many points of interest. The route goes east from the old railway platform along the cyle path. for over two miles, to just before a viaduct overhead. At this point turn right off the main path and after a few yards turn left along a narrow road, under the viaduct and eventually thru the car park of Hertord Football Club. Go straight on over bridge and up to road. Turn left along road (West Street) crossing over to right hand side (when safe) and follow to end. Turn right on pavement along main road and after just over 100 take subway to right and then left under road. Exit straight from subway and cross over quiet street to gardens. After a few yards follow path to left and at top turn right to enter castle walls. Go straight on keeping wall on right. At end turn left with path (castle wall is still on right). At end turn right to exit castle grounds and straight on to pelican crossing. Cross straight over road and into Maidenhead Street. At end turn left into Bull Plain. Follow street to and over bridge. Once over follow road around to left. On reaching the Old Barge Pub go onto path along canal to right of pub. Follow towpath for a third of a mile and eventually over footbridge over weir. At road turn right over canal and then immediately left and back down onto towpath. Follow the towpath with river on your left hand side for the next 7 miles to Dobbs Weir. On approaching Dobbs Weir path turns left over the canal to finish at a small grassy picnic area between next to the weir and the Fish n Eels pub.
