Bike ride over Sognefjell
A beautiful an popular scenic route which follows the road from Lom to Skjolden (in Luster) straight across a mountain range, with an optional extra "finale" to Kroken for no other reason than that it's a beautiful place. From Skjolden you can choose to continue to Sogndal. If you go via Kroken, you can continue to Urnes to see Norway's oldest stave church. From there you can catch a ferry to Solvorn. This trip is hard. Expect steep climbs into the mountains, and even steeper descents on the way down. The highest point is about 1400 meters above sea level, and the lowest is just about on sea level in the Sognefjord. The road is paved all the way but the quality varies. The road sees heavy traffic from tourists in high season, but you can also expect to be on your own for long stretches. There are places to stop and eat, but it's recommended to bring food and extra clothes (at least a rain/wind jacket). Weather can be unpredictable, and it's usually prett cold in the mountains. - a 63.9 mi cycling route in Sognefjell, Norway
