I started out trying to eat better and move more after I weighed myself on my 33rd Birth Day July,21st,06. That day I weighed 488 lbs by eating healthier and lifting some light weights I got down to 456lbs. I tried to walk at first but I had to rest 4 times in the first mile and was really frustrated and decided to wait till I took off some weight.
Around May 25th I saw a flyer for a charity 5k walk and they had a 1k fun walk as well. It was 1 month away I decided that since I was down over 40 lbs I would try and get up to walking the 5k but if not I could just walk the 1k instead.
Well the walk/run is June 24th and I will be walking the 5k. I have walked everyday since that day and am looking forward to this walk. I also have started making plans to walk the 1/2 marathon event at the Dtroit Marathon on oct 21st and have started training for that. I really have my doubts I can do it but I have nothing to lose by trying. I started walking to lose weight but now I am losing weight because I love walking :)
I plan on walking my way to a healthy and happy 225lbs or so.
