Santa Fe Trail from Woodman/ I-25 to AFA Pond
Though this route is rough and graveled, it is well traveled. Mountain bikers use it daily as well as walkers and runners. People take dogs on it as well as stollers and children walking on their own. I suggest bringing plenty of water. The scenic view is worth the adventure. The wooded surroundings and river, combined with the many song birds and other animals sounds hard as you walk along are all a wonderful escape from the busy city life. Coming to this part of the Santa Fe Trail for a walk is like escaping into another demension for a little while. If you love nature and exploreing, you will not want to miss this short stretch of trail. Dont worry about walking onto the military base. It is allowed. Just keep on walking. The route I have mapped takes you to the fishing pond on the base and then has you turn back around and walk back to the parking lot where you started. NO worries. It is all legal. :-) - a 4.1 mi walking route in Colorado Springs, Colorado
