I just got my new bike on the 12th of this month. Can anyone please tell me why my brakes are so loud? I have put around 100 miles on the bike so far; I was hoping this would go away with a little wear but it hasn't. The brakes sound like a horn or something; very loud. Any ideas? Should the bike shop replace the pads if it is the pads being cheap? Thanks a bunch

offhand it sounds like the pads aren't toed-in... i.e. the front of the pad should hit the rim before the back of the pad, otherwise you get a bunch of squeaking.

If you bought your bike from a reputable shop they should at the very least give it a tune up for you after a few rides. That should cover any issues you have from new including squeaking brakes from toe-in. It's a simple adjustment, but if your not happy with the product give them a chance to rectify before you go further.
