We’re excited about Chippokes Plantation State Park. Chippokes Plantation is a scenic locale located between Petersburg and Smithfield on the southern banks of the James River; just a short ferry ride from Williamsburg. The plantation has been in continual operation since 1617. On the grounds are antebellum mansion, formal gardens, and a collection of antique farm and forestry equipment and a sawmill exhibit at the Farm and Forestry Museum. A campground and three unique overnight cottages allow visitors to spend the night on the historic grounds. The 5K runs run along the plantation roads inside the park and the bike course covers 23 miles of scenic and quiet country roads in Surry. We believe you will be pleased with the new venue!
