Lake Forest to Downtown Chicago
I'm putting this here because I remember how annoying it was to find a route from the northern suburbs to Chicago that was relatively smooth, safe (traffic/crime), and direct. This is a good one. Once you're on Ardmore it's difficult to not see the Lakefront path that will bring you all the way downtown. I often take a break at Navy Pier; but one can easily go further south on the lakefront path. I've gone as far as McCormick Place. Further south than that and you might want to worry about crime, but then again I hear it has gotten beter in the last 20 years. The worst part for traffic is Evanston; but it's not even that bad. - a 65.8 mi cycling route in Chicago, Illinois
