Description of this Walk

Start at Lake Merritt BART and follow Bay Trail to Fruitvale. Bay Trail roughly follows the shoreline, sometimes on trails and others on Embarcadero. There are some great, quiet shore access points along Embarcadero. At 23rd Ave, turn left toward freeway. There is a trail parallel to 23rd Ave where you can take stairs to the bridge rather than use the sidewalk. Same trail goes under the bridge but I did not explore where it leads to. Cross over the freeway at 22nd/23rd Ave, great view of Oakland skyline when crossing the RR tracks, then east on International to the Fruitvale neighborhood. Stop in to see St. Elizabeth\'s, a Franciscan church before choosing a Mexican restaurant. End at Fruitvale BART.
