Parkesbourne Loop
The Parkesbourne Loop starts at the Greengrocer Cafe and Cycle Shop which is the hub of cycling and socialising in Goulburn.
<br>
The ride initially tracks through suburban streets before it reaches the town limit at Foord Road and a big downhill.
<br>
It continues through pretty undulating countryside until you reach the famous cattle station 'Kippilaw' which was first settled by the Durack family. A book caled 'Kings In Grass Castles' was written about this famous pioneering family.
<br>
The road flattens out until you turn into Gap Road up a very steep climb of which you will require low gearing and good strength.
<br>
From here to the Hume Highway you experience 1 more steep climb and then undulating road with good views and cross the great dividing range.
<br>
The ride home on the Highway is generally fast with a westerly behind you, smoother road surface and a good shoulder. Take care on two narrow bridges as you approach the turn-off to Goulburn.
<br>
Here, the famous big Merino is located.
<br>
Continue down the Hume Highway, turn right into Clinton Street at the Shell Service Station, left into Bourke Street at the next Roundabout. Along Bourke Street are two beautiful old churches that are worth a look.
Turn right into Clifford Street at the roundabout and finnish off with a coffee and fruit salad at the Greengrocer. - a 22.7 mi cycling route in Goulburn, Australia
